Synod invites anyone in the Metro D.C. and Virginia Synods who is feeling a call to ministry or is looking for a space to actively discern their call to join our October 2023 discernment group. DESCRIPTION:Join the Virginia Synod Candidates and Candidacy Committee for their annual retreat at Eagle Eyrie\, Lynchburg\, on Friday\, June 3\, from Noon to Saturday\, June 4 at Noon.\n\n  \nWe will spend the weekend considering the ways we are called by God through our Baptismal promise to whatever it is we do\, which is a process named discernment. There are many times in our lives when we discern where God is calling us\, and what we do in response is considered our Vocation. Some people might even be called to be a pastor or deacon! Join us for a weekend retreat to practice discernment and consider where God is calling you.\n\n  \nDeacons and pastors\, please invite anyone you know who is discerning God’s call in their lives. DESCRIPTION:Is God calling you to rostered\, public ministry in the church? Are you wondering what “rostered\, public ministry” even is?! The Virginia Synod Vocations Conference allows persons discerning God’s call to spend time in reflection and conversation around call\, gifts for ministry\, and the Candidacy process in the ELCA. \nDue to COVID-19\, this year’s Conference will be on Zoom. We’ll begin with a 90-minute session with Welcome and a Panel Discussion with First-Call Rostered Ministers (pastors and deacons in their first 3 years of ministry). Following a 30 minute break\, we will gather again\, this time in small groups for a 60 minute Q&A.
