SUMMARY:7th Day
DESCRIPTION:7th Day is our annual overnight faith sharing event for youth in 5th and 6th grades and their adult advisors.  In 2026\, 7th Day will take place from noon Saturday\, March 7th to 1:30 Sunday\, March 8th at Eagle Eyrie Conference Center. \nDuring the weekend\, each youth participant is part of a “Shepherd Group” with 5-6 other youth and adult leaders. Along with other Shepherd Groups\, participants will explore a story of the Bible through drama\, games\, crafts\, and music. Then everyone is together in a large group setting for singing\, worship\, and a presentation from our 7th Day Planning Group youth! DESCRIPTION:WINTER CELEBRATION HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER SAFTEY HAZARDS \nWinter Celebration will be Feb. 13-15\, 2026 at Eagle Eyrie Conference Center in Lynchburg. (Friday evening to Sunday noon) \nIf you were registered for Winter Cel. Please fill out this form to indicate you’ve received this information and so that we can update your registration status. All registrations will be kept the same unless told otherwise. If you were unable to join us for the January date but can attend in February\, registration is still open through the regular portal – see links below.  \nWinter Celebration is our annual weekend faith sharing retreat for youth in 9th through 12th grade and their adult advisors. \nWe have Large Group gatherings that consist of singing\, energy\, comedy\, worship and Planning Group presentations on our event theme. After each Large Group gathering\, participants will gather in Small Groups. These are made up of a handful of youth and a team of adult leaders. In small groups\, participants will get to know youth from other Lutheran congregations in Virginia and discuss life and faith\, as well as other topics that arise throughout the weekend. \nOn Saturday afternoon there is large chunk of Free Time during which participants can continue to build relationships\, enjoy outdoor recreation\, visit the Eagle Eyrie coffee shop and ice cream parlor\, and so much more. DESCRIPTION:Lost and Found is our annual faith-sharing retreat for 7th and 8th graders and their adult advisors. DESCRIPTION:Roanoke College Lutheran Visit Day\nHello all Virginia Synod high school students and families! \nRoanoke College Lutheran Visit Day 2025 will take place Saturday\, Sept. 27\, 2025\, from 10am to 1:00 at Roanoke College. \nThis event offers an opportunity for high school students and parents to spend some time with Synod Youth Director Dave Delaney and Bishop Phyllis Milton\, along with Roanoke College admissions staff and Lutheran students of the Roanoke College community to learn about your Lutheran College on the territory of the Virginia Synod. \nWe will start at 10am in RC’s Antrim Chapel\, where prospective students will learn more about the Roanoke experience\, then move on to a tour of the beautiful campus\, enjoy a complimentary brunch thanks to Roanoke College Admissions\, meet and get to know other Lutheran high schoolers\, RC staff\, and students. \nIf you are a pastor or congregational leader reading this\, please reach out to the high-schoolers and their families in your congregation and encourage them to make the trip to Salem that day. \nPre-registration is not required\, but doing so will help us prepare for everyone to have a great day! DESCRIPTION:Calling all Rostered Ministers and Adult Leaders of youth in the Synod! \nIn-person youth events are returning this year! That means it’s time to re-orient ourselves with where our weekend youth retreats are held. So\, we’re hosting a sampler event at Eagle Eyrie Conference Center on Thursday\, September 8th from 10am to 3pm. All adult leaders of youth in the Synod\, as well as rostered ministers are invited. Whether you’re brand new to VA Synod Youth Events\, or you know them very well\, please join us for a day of exploring Eagle Eyrie\, sampling what a youth event is like\, and being in community with one another. \nThis will be a chance to get a small taste of what the events entail\, enjoy a meal at the Eagle Eyrie Dining Hall\, and get a tour of the cottage and other facilities at Eagle Eyrie. \nThe Youth Event Sampler is free of charge\, so take advantage of it! SUMMARY:Theology 4 Teens (canceled for 2021)
DESCRIPTION:Roanoke College “Theology 4 Teens” WILL NOT BE HELD IN 2021 due to pandemic restrictions. Watch for information on a 2022 event. \nThis six-day annual event for youth who have completed 10th\, 11th\, or 12th grades introduces participants to biblical and theological scholarship and explores contemporary challenges along with ways that their faith tradition can meet those challenges. We live and gather in large and small groups on the campus of Roanoke College\, with college faculty as presenters and young adults as discussion group leaders. \nOur week includes a focus on the life & thought of Dietrich Bonhoeffer—a church leader who met the challenges before him\, encounters with other faiths by engaging the students with leaders from those various communities\, and lots of opportunities for both structured and informal conversation. Come and discover a sense of mission\, be equipped with theological tools to enable you to meet the challenges facing the church today.
