DESCRIPTION:Join the Virginia Synod Candidates and Candidacy Committee for their annual retreat at Eagle Eyrie\, Lynchburg\, on Friday\, June 3\, from Noon to Saturday\, June 4 at Noon.\n\n  \nWe will spend the weekend considering the ways we are called by God through our Baptismal promise to whatever it is we do\, which is a process named discernment. There are many times in our lives when we discern where God is calling us\, and what we do in response is considered our Vocation. Some people might even be called to be a pastor or deacon! Join us for a weekend retreat to practice discernment and consider where God is calling you.\n\n  \nDeacons and pastors\, please invite anyone you know who is discerning God’s call in their lives. Are you unsure of what ministry opportunities to prune back? Are you having a hard time deciding which new ministry opportunity to plant? \nThis workshop will guide you through a core values focused method of evaluating and designing ministry\, introducing intentionality into your next season of in-person\, hybrid\, digital worship and faith formation. This workshop will be particularly fruitful for leaders if pastors\, deacons\, and a portion of council leadership attend together. \nParticipants will be asked to complete pre-work prior to the event. Each Virginia Synod congregation will also be offering a follow-up one-on-one session with either Pastor Colleen or Pastor John to contextualize what they have learned and to keep the momentum going. \nRegistration is now closed for this event. It allows time for reflection\, conversations\, and questions concerning one’s call and gifts for ministry through ample opportunities for fellowship and free time.  \nAnyone discerning a call to rostered ministry is encouraged to attend the Vocations Conference – the sooner in your discernment\, the better equipped you will be to prayerfully consider how God is calling you to use your faith gifts through your vocational call.  \nPastors and deacons are encouraged to attend the Vocations Conference with those in your congregation who are discerning a call to ordained ministry.
