SUMMARY:Synod Youth Ministry Summit
DESCRIPTION:Your Virginia Synod Lutheran Youth Organization Board is piloting a new event this year\, which will take the place of the Youth Assembly in years when the Synod Assembly is not held. \n“Summit“ is an opportunity for select youth in grades 7-12 from around the Virginia Synod to gather for fellowship and conversation about the life and work of the church beyond their congregations\, and to contribute to the planning and oversight of the Synod’s Ministry with Youth and Young Adults. It will be held on April 24-25 (Fri 8 pm to Sat 3 pm) at Epiphany\, Richmond. The cost will be $35. \nPastors can click here to see a regularly updated list of all registrants sorted by conference and congregation. \nWhat will happen: We will spend time singing and worshiping together … listening\, discussing\, and asking questions about the various ministries of the church … providing evaluation and input on the synod’s youth ministry … bringing our own concerns about life and the world to discuss … contributing to the revised structure of synod youth ministry oversight that is taking shape. PLUS: we will have meals together and enjoy some great fellowship time with old and new friends from around the Virginia Synod! \nHow does someone attend this event? Fill out this online registration form for “Synod Youth Summit.” It will go to the Synod office and your conference Dean\, who will follow up with you on the details of completing your registration. Before the event\, you will receive a registration confirmation and a list of items to bring. At this point\, any youth in the 7th-12th grade age range may attend\, but please let your pastor know\, who can then inform your conference Dean. \nFor the first time at this event\, we are estimating 5 youth per conference\, but if there are many more who want to attend\, please let Dave Delaney in the Synod office know\, and we will see if more can be admitted. SUMMARY:LAUNCH
DESCRIPTION:LAUNCH is an event for youth who have just graduated from high school. Its purpose is to give you a chance to take stock of where your faith life has led you so far and also to provide an opportunity to engage in discussion on matters of faith and life that are likely to face you as you move on to the next stage of your life\, whether it be the workforce\, military or other public service\, college\, or something else. \nIf you are a veteran of our Virginia Synod ELCA Youth Events (Lost and Found\, Winter Celebration\, Kairos\, etc.)\, you will find that this event is structured differently. We will spend our three full days together in a rhythm of worship\, informal presentations to the whole group\, small group discussions\, and individual reflections that engage the mind as well as the spirit.  Of course\, there will be time for fellowship and relaxation and enjoyable meal times together. \nAll LAUNCH Participants must agree to the provisions of the LAUNCH Covenant (click here to read) \nThe cost per participant is $130.  Click here to go to the online registration form. At the end of the form you’ll be able to click a link to the payment page or you can go to the “Give” tab at the Synod Website to pay. \nQUESTIONS about LAUNCH or the registration process should be directed to Synod Youth Director Dave Delaney (cell: 540-529-6893 / delaney@vasynod.org). \n \n
