DESCRIPTION:Leading with Hope in a Season of Change; \nWalking the Road Together \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Gathering of the Ministerium is an annual event for the rostered ministers\, interns\, vicars\, and spouses who are living or serving in the Virginia Synod. \nGather to meet\, reconnect\, worship\, relax\, learn\, sing\, pray and play together while overlooking the ocean. The Gathering of the Ministerium includes valuable continuing education for all rostered ministers. Everyone who attends\, whether in person or online\, will receive 10 CEUs. \nAs Christian leaders\, our preaching and teaching centers around a message of hope and resurrection. There are times\, however\, when it seems difficult to walk this road ourselves\, let alone walking it with others. DESCRIPTION:Beyond Thoughts & Prayers: A Commemoration of Moses the Black \nAugust 28 – 7pm – Zoom \n  \nMoses the Black lived in the 4th century. He was\, before his conversion\, known as a robber and scoundrel.  He was considered a worthless blight in his society. Hiding from local authorities\, Moses appealed to Scetis monks to give him sanctuary. Observing their peace\, contentment\, and faith practice\, Moses was baptized and became a dedicated member of their monastic community. Moses the Black became an example of faith through his actions even beyond peers and elders. His faith inspired his martyrdom\, which saved his community. Moses the Black is commemorated for his life of faith on August 28th. To coincide with his commemoration\, Tapestry invites you to gather to consider initiatives of Faith and Action.  \n  \nThere have been 248 tragedies characterized as mass shootings in 2023. Sympathies for the victims and their families have been expressed by a call for our thoughts and prayers. Tapestry invites you on August 28th at 7:00 p.m. to join in brainstorming initiatives for our congregations\, conferences\, and synod that may support our communities with actions of faith beyond sympathies of thoughts and prayer.  \n  \nRegistration has closed. We are united in the wilderness\, even if our journeys are different. \nIn each session\, participants will hear a story about God’s presence in the wilderness\, will learn how that story has impacted a synod leader\, and will have opportunity to share their wilderness stories too. DESCRIPTION:Truth in Love Workshop #3 \nImplicit Bias – What You Don’t Think You Think \nSunday\, April 30th\, 2023  5:00 pm – 8:00 pm \nLiving in community will inevitably bring seasons of conflict.  There are many tools to help prepare for those seasons and to handle conflict healthily.  And yet there are still times when we listen attentively and speak in love and use the tools…and still find ourselves at an impasse.  Stuck.  Why is that? \nPerhaps you’ve heard this term:  “implicit bias.”  Sometimes there are things going on inside us that we don’t even realize are happening\, things that have an impact on how we speak\, how we listen\, and how we manage conflict.  It’s what we don’t think we think.  This workshop will unpack implicit bias and the effect it can have on conflict management.  We will look at:  1) Recognizing Implicit Bias within ourselves and within our community; 2) Questioning Implicit Bias; and 3) Transforming Implicit Bias.  We’ll ask the Holy Spirit to intercede for the sighs that aren’t quite making it to words. \nThese are digital workshops.  The cost per person is $25.  There is a discount for multiple participants form the same congregation.  Participation in either of the first two workshops is not required to participate in Workshop #3.  This workshop is open to rostered ministers and laypersons. \nIf you have any questions please contact Pr. DESCRIPTION:Truth in Love Workshop #3: \nImplicit Bias – What You Don’t Think You Think \nThursday\, April 27\, 2023 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm \nLiving in community will inevitably bring seasons of conflict.  There are many tools to help prepare for those seasons and to handle conflict healthily.  And yet there are still times when we listen attentively and speak in love and use the tools…and still find ourselves at an impasse.  Stuck.  Why is that? \nPerhaps you’ve heard this term:  “implicit bias.”  Sometimes there are things going on inside us that we don’t even realize are happening\, things that have an impact on how we speak\, how we listen\, and how we manage conflict.  It’s what we don’t think we think.  This workshop will unpack implicit bias and the effect it can have on conflict management.  We will look at:  1) Recognizing Implicit Bias within ourselves and within our community; 2) Questioning Implicit Bias; and 3) Transforming Implicit Bias.  We’ll ask the Holy Spirit to intercede for the sighs that aren’t quite making it to words. \nThese are digital workshops.  The cost per person is $25.  There is a discount for multiple participants form the same congregation.  Participation in either of the first two workshops is not required to participate in Workshop #3.  This workshop is open to rostered ministers and laypersons. \nIf you have any questions please contact Pr. DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, February 9 \n7-8:15pm EST – Zoom \nTaught by Pastor Colleen Montgomery  \n  \nBeing a friend\, follower\, or subscriber to someone on social media is no longer the only way to connect. All major social media platforms are building in discoverable algorithms to connect people with new creators based on their interests and interactions. Understanding how this new type of algorithm works and being able to create content for it (vertical video) is a huge opportunity for evangelism for churches of all sizes.  \n  \nIn this class you’ll learn what makes discoverable algorithms different from their predecessors and the basics of how to brainstorm\, film\, and edit vertical video.
