Pre-Assembly Meetings

In preparation for the 2024 Virginia Synod Assembly which will take place on Saturday, April 27 from 9 AM until 1 PM on Zoom, the Virginia Synod Office of the Bishop will offer pre-assembly gatherings online to help you prepare for the assembly. Anyone is invited to participate, and each gathering will be recorded and shared following the event. There is no cost to attend.

Pre-Assembly Meeting Schedule

The gatherings and dates offered will be:

  • RESOLUTION AND MEMORIAL WRITING – January 23 at 7 PM
    • Thinking about submitting a resolution or memorial to the 2024 Virginia Synod Assembly? You are invited to learn more about how to write an effective memorial or resolution and what specific format to use for those.
  • VIRGINIA SYNOD AND ELCA CHURCHWIDE ELECTIONS – February 29 at 7 PM
    • Pre-Assembly meetings have been organized for those discerning synod leadership and those coming as voting members to the 2024 Synod Assembly. All are invited to attend any of the meetings (lay, rostered, voting member or not).
  • INVESTMENT IN MINISTRY PLAN AND COMPENSATION GUIDELINES – March 7 at 7 PM
    • Bring your questions about the 2025 Investment in Ministry Plan and Compensation Guidelines to this meeting. Your questions and participation in this meeting will help streamline the Assembly and assist others who may have similar questions. All voting members are encouraged to attend or watch the recording.
    • 2024 Compensation Guidelines and 2025 Proposed Investment in Ministry Plan Coming Soon
  • HOW TO VOTE 101 – April 16 at 7 PM
    • This pre-Assembly meeting will explain how voting members for the 2024 Virginia Synod Assembly will cast their votes. There will be time for questions and answers. All voting members are encouraged to attend or watch the recording.
  • RESOLUTION AND MEMORIAL REVIEW – April 18 at 7 PM
    • This pre-assembly meeting will review the resolution(s) and memorial(s) that have been submitted for the 2024 Virginia Synod Assembly. There will be time for questions and answers. Your questions and participation in this meeting will help streamline the Assembly and assist others who may have similar questions. All voting members are encouraged to attend or watch the recording.
