On Sunday, September 18, Hurricane Fiona struck Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands causing massive flooding and power outages. Rain continued to fall all day Sunday and into Monday. The islands have experienced devastating flooding and loss of power.
The Caribbean Synod led by Bishop Idalia Negrón Caamaño consists of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. It’s one of the six synods along with the Virginia Synod in ELCA Region 9.
We have received a request from Bishop Negrón Caamaño for assistance with recovery. The Caribbean Synod will be purchasing and distributing Wal-Mart gift cards to allow residents to purchase the resources they need.
