Meet Richard, Our New Virginia Synod Financial Consultant.
We all have varied gifts and when we come together, magic happens! We are thankful that Richard Hoffman will be bringing his skills with finances to our team as our new Financial Consultant. Richard will be continuing the work of Mike Agee who has just entered into full-time retirement.
With over 35 years of experience in accounting and financial positions at General Electric (GE), Richard brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our staff.
“I hope to provide more analysis, simplify procedures, and give the Bishop and his staff a better understanding of the finances,” he said.
Richard will be in charge of financial analysis for the Virginia Synod which will include coordinating the financial committee, coordinating investments, recording and approving expenditures, and providing overall supervision for the business operations of the Synod office.
If you get the chance to speak to Richard in the coming months, you may notice the twinge of a northern accent during your conversation.
“From my apartment where I grew up, you can see the Empire State building,” Richard said with a chuckle.
After moving from New Jersey to California, The Hoffmans decided to settle down in Virginia to raise their two children in Roanoke. Both children are now grown and live in Arlington, Va.
We are finding out that Richard and his wife like to fill their lives with service and adventure. If you write him a message of welcome this week, you may receive a delayed response because he is currently in Belize delivering backpacks and school supplies to local schools through a charity called Bookbag Santa.
We are excited to have Richard on our team and believe that he will be a valuable asset to our Synod.
