On March 14th through the 16th Synod Council met at Christ the King Lutheran Church to conduct business and a council retreat. Some highlights to share from this meeting include:
1. New Synod Attorney appointed.
A new Synod Attorney, Brad Moyers, was appointed by Synod Council. Mark Reed had previously served in this role prior to his retirement. We thank Mark for his many years of faithful service to the synod.
2. Compensation Guidelines Task Force Report
The Compensation Guidelines task force presented their report to the council. Over the next year, the task force will be going into further study working to hear from a variety of individuals throughout the synod, with the hope to have more laypersons involved with this process.
3. 2020 Ministry Spending Plan
The 2020 Ministry Spending Plan has been approved and will be presented during the 2019 Synod Assembly.
4. Synod Council Retreat
During the Synod Council retreat, council members discussed ministry opportunities, established priorities, and looked for ways to strengthen the ministry of the Virginia Synod and its congregations.
