Virginia Synod Office Working Remotely
In light of the increasing rate of infection from the Omicron variant of COVID-19, the Virginia Synod Office of the Bishop will primarily work remotely for at least the next two weeks. If there are questions, or if you need to reach out to one of the Virginia Synod staff, please call the main office phone number at 540-389-1000 or email individual staff members. We will return emails and telephone calls in a timely manner. We will reassess this decision in two weeks.
While nothing will change the highly contagious nature of the Omicron variant, we give thanks for the tools at our disposal to help mitigate the impact of the disease for some people and to help in our efforts to keep one another safe. Please, wear a highly protective mask when interacting with others. Social distance whenever possible. Get vaccinated. Recommend vaccinations. If you are vaccinated, get your booster shot. These remain the best and fastest way out of this public health crisis.
Experiencing another variant and surge in infections means that as a Synod, as congregations, and as individuals, we will once again be faced with difficult decisions about how to do the ministry God calls us to do while at the same time caring for one another. There are no easy answers.
People are weary and grieving the loss of friends, loved ones, dreams, and experiences. Give yourself and one another grace. Interpret your neighbor’s actions in the best possible light. Be patient and share the gift of kindness whenever possible. The members of the Virginia Synod Office of the Bishop join you in praying for healing, support, and hope in this New Year.
