We look forward to gathering in-person as the Virginia Synod on July 15-16 in conjunction with Power in the Spirit to celebrate ministries of service from around the Virginia Synod, to gather together for worship, and to learn from one another.

Everyone can attend. Unlike an Assembly where the number of participants is limited, anyone in the Virginia Synod can attend the Synodical Gathering. Congregations are encouraged to send at least two leaders, but anyone who is interested can register.

Synod Gathering Mission Project for Micah Street Church:
Stock the Closet
As a part of the Virginia Synod Gathering, you’ll have an opportunity to help stock the Micah Ecumenical Ministries clothing closet with new jeans. Volunteers from the Synod Gathering will be sorting jeans by sizes, putting a pair of socks and a devotion in the pockets and then packaging them so they can be easily distributed. The project won’t take long, but it should be a fast and fun way to make a difference for these neighbors in need.

Enjoy Workshops

On Friday afternoon of the Synod Gathering, participants will have a chance to attend two workshops from this the incredible list of workshops at Power in the Spirit.  You can learn about the bible or the newest ELCA hymnal. You can learn about being a better neighbor through breaking down your unconscious biases or get inspired with some new ways to serve your neighbors. There’s something for everyone!
