While some days it feels like the only constant during the pandemic has been change, the truth is that God’s love for God’s people has not changed and neither have the basic principles of good stewardship.
Beginning this morning, the Virginia Synod will be sending an email each morning with a Stewardship Tip. Each email will contain a basic principle, a short reflection, and a series of action ideas.
On Thursday at, you are invited to a conversation about Stewardship during the Pandemic. During the Zoom, participants will share ideas and best practices.

Principle: Say “Thank You” and then say “Thank You” again.
Now is an excellent time to establish or strengthen your system for saying “Thank You” to those who support your ministry. Stress levels are high. Patience can be in short supply. Uncertainty around finances is common. An intentional, regular thank you can help create a climate of generosity, gratitude, and connection.
Action Ideas:
  • Design a series of thank you emails/letters/postcards to be sent to donors who make a financial contribution in October, November, and December.
  • Publicly acknowledge individuals who have shared their talents in the last few months to make ministry possible.
  • Give a small thank you gift to key ministry leaders (volunteers and staff)
  • Invite someone in the congregation to send regular, handwritten thank you notes and provide that person with cards and stamps.
  • Call a group of formal and informal leaders who are financially supportive of the ministry and say “Thank You”.
