Principle: Digital Giving supports both Digital and In-Person Worship
The old axiom is “People donate in the way they pay their bills.” As more people move to digital forms of payment, there is an expectation that congregations provide digital avenues for donations. As fewer people use cash and checks and with no offering plate to pass, now is the time for digital giving.
Action Ideas:
- Create a digital giving portal. Vanco and Tithe.ly are the preferred providers of the ELCA.
- Encourage people to use their bank’s online bill pay for their offering donation.
- Create “How to” videos, emails, or Zoom calls to explain your digital giving system.
- Include the link for your digital giving in all digital worship services, bulletins, and website.
- Include digital giving links in any materials asking for a donation.
