Five Petal Friday

Five Petal Friday is the biweekly newsletter that comes from the Office for Youth and Young Adult Ministries in the Virginia Synod.

Director Dave Delaney had always hoped to be able to publish a newsletter coming directly from this office, but never really got around to it. That was until August 2023 when it finally became a reality.

The name, Five Petal Friday (a.k.a. 5PF), was inspired by the five petals of the “Luther Rose” (which we’re told is not actually a rose like we think of a rose, but whatever – that’s what we call it in English). Luther didn’t attach any particular meaning to the number of petals (5) but it gives us an excuse to organize this into five items that we hope will be of interest to everyone involved in Virginia Synod Youth Ministry.

Our logo features the Luther Rose, but it is not exactly like Luther’s, of course; it looks more like one that a participant would have drawn on newsprint with markers at one of our youth events!
