In preparation for the retirement of the Rev. Dr. Dave Delaney in August 2026, the Virginia Synod has developed a process to fill the position of Director for Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Below is an overview of the anticipated timeline for the process. (Please note that all dates are subject to change.)
Fall 2025: Search Team formed consisting of Bishop Milton and eight individuals including youth, youth ministry alumni, adult advisors, lay leaders, and rostered ministers.
January 5, 2026: The application opens for the Director of Youth and Young Adult position.
February 17, 2026: Applications close.
February 17 – April 13, 2026: Applications evaluated.
April 13 – May 15, 2026: Interviews conducted with selected applicants.
June 25, 2026: Official announcement of acceptance of call.
August 1, 2026: New Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry begins call with the Virginia Synod.
August 14, 2026: Rev. Dr. Dave Delaney’s retirement date.
